We are looking to hire a R&D Associate in our S&T Human Biology team based in Bangalore:
Job Purpose:
Human Biology (HB) team in Bangalore, is responsible for delivering superior skin brightening technologies across skin care and cleansing brands like GAL, PNDS, Lakme, Vaseline, Murad, Lux, Dove etc. The team’s responsibilities span new technology findings, generating new insights, building novel claims, developing new models and capabilities. One of the current requirements from skin care and cleansing category is to build expertise for sunscreen-bioactive for skin pigmentation and glow benefit. Sunscreens are known to give protection for UV induced damages including pigmentation, aging and barrier. However, using sunscreen in the product has its own challenges like cost, sensory, biodegradability, blue light protection etc. The current strategy to build potent bioactive with SPF combination to overcome challenges and also to drive significant consumer benefits.
Key accountabilities:
The appointee will be responsible for understanding photobiology, developing cell culture and 3D tissue models, understanding mode of action, exploring pigmentation benefits in the day vs night, developing consumer demo and implementing robust technologies that are aligned to our skin care and cleansing categories.
Towards this, she/he will
  • Carry out cell culture experiments in laboratory to develop UV induced model for studying SPF-bioactive combinations
  • Develop UV induced pigmentation model in 3D tissue and establish SPF-bioactive synergistic benefit for skin brightening and glow for skin leave-on and wash-off formulations
  • Explore cell culture experiments to study dual stress conditions (UV and VL, mainly blue light) on skin pigmentation and associated functions like aging and barrier. Then demonstrate SPF+Bioactive synergistic benefit in restoring these functions.
  • Understand skin signaling and pathways and establish mode of action of key bioactive with SPF for synergistic benefit
  • Explore benefit of SPF-bioactive in the day vs night application
  • Work closely within teams to progress technology to relevant skin care and cleansing categories with due diligence on quality and robustness.
  • Develop consumer demo
  • Work seamlessly with external (3P lab) as required.

  • Technical education: M.Sc. (Biotechnology,Cell and Molecular biology)
  • Collaborative mindset to work within team and 3P labs
  • Pro-active and Dynamic in response to challenges
  • Willingness to embrace Digital ways of working (use of models, Digital tools)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Presentation and explanation of results to the team
  • Required minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in Research
